How AI Employees Work
A technical overview of the AI Employee architecture
Provider Abstraction
Supports OpenCode, OpenRouter, OpenAI, Ollama, LM Studio, and any OpenAI-compatible endpoint. Swap models via environment variables without code changes.
Persistent Memory
Each AI Employee has a dedicated memory profile stored in the database. Memory is automatically updated after every interaction and persists across sessions.
Proactive Engine
Background scheduler checks deadlines, email threads, calendar events, and task status. When action is needed, the AI Employee initiates a conversation.
WhatsApp Transport
Built on Baileys (pure JavaScript WebSocket implementation). No Meta API, no webhooks, no approval process. Each employee can have its own phone number.
Automation Triggers
Automations can be triggered by time (cron), events (email received, task overdue, calendar event starting), or webhooks. Chains can include conditions and multiple actions.
Security & Isolation
